PEI Issues 141 New Invitations In latest draw of the year

On April 21, Prince Edward Island (PEI) held a new PNP draw inviting 141 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

PEI is the smallest province located on the East Coast of North America. It has a growing economy that continuously delivers high-quality products and services to its marketplace. It is considered an ideal place to live, study and work in Canada.

Among the total of 141, most of the invitations went to Express Entry as well as Labor Impact Candidates. The remaining 11 went to the Business Impact Category Candidates, having at least 67 points in PEI’s immigration system.

Through PEI’s Province Nominee Program, prospective candidates having the necessary skills, education and, experience have been targeted, who may receive PEI’s Provincial Nomination Certificate, which helps to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

PEI has three immigration categories:

  • PEI PNP Express Entry
  • Labour Impact Category
  • Business Impact Category
PEI Express Entry:

PEI PNP Express Entry:

Candidates having a valid Express Entry profile and skills required for labor market needs, who wish to work and live in Prince Edward Island, can apply through Express Entry Program.

How it works:

  • The first step for applying in PEI PNP is to create a profile in PEI’s Expression of Interest EOI system.
  • While creating the profile, the candidate will be asked multiple questions which he needs to answer correctly. He can change the information provided anytime.
  • Based on the information provided, the candidate gets a point score according to the selection system points grid. He can score a maximum of 100 points.
  • The highest-scoring candidates are invited for provincial nominations and the candidates are informed by email notification.
  • Candidates who received the notification are required to complete the application forms and submit the application within 60 days.
  • Candidates having successful applications will receive provincial nominations. They must accept the nomination through the Express Entry account. They may receive an Invitation to Apply for PR in the next Express Entry draw.

Labour Impact Category:

It consists of 3 streams:

Skilled Worker Stream
The candidates who have been hired by PEI employers come under this category. The candidate must be either working in PEI or have a Job Offer from the PEI employer. Eligible Candidates will work in a skilled profession, having relevant experience & at least a post-secondary degree or diploma.

Critical Work Stream
The candidates who have already been hired by PEI employer, and whose employer would like to sponsor them for PR, come under this category. Eligible Candidates will work in the semi-skilled or unskilled profession.

International Graduate Stream
Recent graduates from recognized accredited Prince Edward Island universities and colleges and already been hired by PEI employers. Eligible Candidates will work in a skilled profession in their field of study.

How it works:

  • Create and submit your EOI profile.
  • Based on the information provided, the candidate gets a point score according to the selection system points grid.
  • The highest-scoring candidates are invited for provincial nominations and the candidates are informed by email notification.
  • Candidates who received the notification are required to complete the application forms and submit the application within 60 days.
  • Candidates having successful applications will receive provincial nominations. They can use their nomination certificate to submit an application for Canadian PR.

Business Impact Category:

It has one stream that is Work Permit Stream
The candidates who want to invest in PEI business, come under this category. They are expected to start working in Canada and learn about work ethics while on Work Permit. After that, they can apply for the PEI Provincial Nomination for PR.

How it works:

  • Create and submit your EOI profile.
  • While creating the profile, the candidate needs to provide some information. The profile will stay active for 6 months.
  • The provided information can be changed anytime, but before the invitation to apply comes.
  • The successful applications will receive an invitation to apply by email. The email will include further details as well.
  • Candidates are required to submit the application within 60 days.
  • After completing the application package submit all the required forms, supporting documents, and application fees.
  • If the application gets approved, then the candidate will get an invite by the Office of Immigration for an in-person interview to discuss your business plan.
  • After that, the candidate has to submit a signed performance agreement, after which he may receive a letter of support from PEI. This letter will be used to apply for Work Permit with IRCC.
  • After getting the Work Permit, the candidate will report to the PEI Office of Immigration within 30 days of arrival.
  • A settlement officer will be assigned, who will help in establishing and operating the business and will be in touch for progress reports.
  • If the candidate meets the conditions of the Performance Agreement and other requirements, he will get nominated by PEI, then they can apply for PR with IRCC.
