Canada is one of the most preferred destinations to study for international students due to its world-class education facility, flexible visa immigration process, and upgraded lifestyle with various opportunities. The number of applications for Canada Student Visa has increased drastically in the last couple of years, therefore visa processing timeline also has been extended.
According to the survey, Post Covid 19, Canada Study Visa rejection has surged by more than 48%, however, Pre-Covid, this number was merely 15-20%. Here, we will evaluate the important reasons for rejection, as well as those steps which students should take to eliminate the rejection chances to study in Canada.
1. Financial instability
While applying for a study permit application, you need to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds in your account to sustain yourself in Canada during your study. Therefore, at the time of file submission, students need to check their financial documents (funds) carefully according to the Canada Government guidelines so that, they can mitigate the chances of Canada student visa rejection due to funds.
2. Academic Qualification
Students must need to have adequate academic score or percentage as per the demand of the university/institution, and the Canadian government. Every university/institution has different requirements for an academic score from the students to give them admission. Ergo, the students must verify the requirement of academic scores on the University website before applying. Most of the Universities/institutes in Canada demand more than 60% academic scores from students from their previous education.
3. Adapting the wrong Course
Adapting a wrong course is one of the major reasons that students get rejections for their study visas. We often experience that the applicants would like to take up those courses which are easy to manage but irrelevant to their past academic experience. Therefore, they fail to convince the case officer that he/she is a genuine candidate to study in Canada. Hence, we strongly recommend all students who are aspiring to study in Canada, should adopt relevant courses based on their past study or experience to avoid the chance of rejection for study visa.
4. Lack of Language Proficiency
To study in Canada, each student needs to appear for an English language test like IELTS, PTE, and Celpip to prove their English proficiency. For student visa eligibility, the Canadian government has set up a required band which is a mandate for the students to achieve, as this is one of the pivotal phases that students need to clear for a successful visa application.
5. Unexplained Gap in Education or Experience
Consistency in your education or work experience is very important for Canada study visa. If you have any gap in your education or post-education, then it can lead to visa refusal. Therefore, the applicants need to provide a legitimate justification for this gap with proper documents.
6. Unclear Purpose of Visit
Visa officers can reject your application if they don’t find a legitimate reason for your visit to Canada. Students need to submit “SOP” as it’s one of the pivotal documents for a Canada student visa application. Here, students need to show the strong purpose of their visit to Canada that they are genuinely going to study & will abide by the rules. This is very important to highlight that as a student they have no intention to stay back in that country post their visa. For that, they need to even mention their academic experience record and why this course they are going to do there is an important need to mention properly.
7. Letter of Acceptance
The student should receive a letter of acceptance from the Designated learning institute (DLI) at the time of admission. Each student needs to submit a letter of acceptance at the time of visa application submission. In case, students don’t get this from the University, then surely the visa will get rejected.
How to reduce the chances of student visa rejection?
There are certain points that students must need to take into consideration while they are applying for student visas, as this will certainly increase the chances of visa outcome.
- Students must need to take a relevant course according to their previous study or experience.
- The fund is one of the pivotal factors, therefore students should have a clear idea regarding how much funding they need to show as well as the medium of the fund should be legitimate.
- Applicants must need to have proper documents to justify their gap. Need to make sure whatever documents they are submitting are authenticated & properly aligned.
- The student should start their study visa application process at least 6 months before the intake. If any chance, you are not able to apply as per the deadline, then there will be high chance of rejection.
- While applying online, make sure you will give all answers on the CIC website.
