Every year thousands of immigrants that move to Canada choose Alberta to live and work. The province offers a high standard of living, a welcoming community, beautiful landscapes, and abundant opportunities for entrepreneurs. It is also a preferred destination for skilled immigrants due to the province’s focus on economic growth and job creation.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program is an economic immigration program that allows the province of Alberta to nominate candidates for Permanent Residence. Nominated candidates should either have the requisite skills to fill skill shortages in the province or plan to set up a business in the province.

There are different immigration streams available for skilled professionals and entrepreneurs to migrate to Alberta.

Immigration streams for skilled workers

This stream is for TFWs (Temporary Foreign Workers) who are already living and working in a full-time job in Alberta. The candidate must be working in an eligible occupation in the province. They must either have an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) or hold an LMIA-exempted Work Permit.

Candidates must also be able to meet other eligibility criteria regarding

  • Residency and Work Permit type
  • Language proficiency
  • Occupation
  • Qualification
  • Alberta job offer
  • Work experience

This stream allows the AINP to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates from the Federal Express Entry Program.

  • You have completed your graduation from a post-secondary educational institution in Canada.
  • You have a blood relative (parent, sibling, or child) who is a PR or citizen of Canada living in Alberta.
