On January 27, Ontario PNP held its first Express Entry Skilled Trades stream draw of the year, inviting a total of 1,032 immigration candidates to the province.
The candidates have been invited under the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.
The candidates who had submitted their profiles between January 27, 2021, and January 27, 2022, are invited through the latest draw. They should have a CRS score between 381 and 461.
To be eligible, candidates need to be living in Ontario with a valid work permit.
They need to have a minimum of one year of full-time work experience or the equivalent of part-time work.
They must have completed this work experience in the province in a skilled trade listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82 under Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC).
The invited candidates who will receive the nomination will automatically get 600 points to boost their score. They’ll also become eligible to receive ITA, Invitation To Apply from a PNP specific Express Entry draw.
Invited candidates have 45 calendar days to apply for the nomination.
Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream
The Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream comes under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) that allows the skilled trades worker having work experience in an eligible trade to settle as a permanent resident in the province through the Federal Express Entry system.
Under this stream, candidates do not need a job offer to apply but must meet all the federal and provincial requirements.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible under the OINP Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, candidates must:
- Have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool;
- Be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC);
- Indicate an interest in immigrating to either Ontario or “All Provinces and Territories”, as designated in the Express Entry profile; and
- Have received a Notification of Interest from Ontario through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Express Entry online account.
About Express Entry Process:
It is an application management system that manages applications for the economic immigration programs of Canada. Canadia Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, & the Federal Skilled Trades Program are the three programs that use Express Entry. PNP candidates in the Express Entry have already qualified for one of these programs.
Express Entry uses CRS, Comprehensive Ranking System which is a points-based system used to rank the profiles of the candidates. The top-scoring candidates receive an ITA and then they can apply for PR through regular Express Entry draws.
PNP candidates automatically earn 600 points in their score for CRS, Comprehensive Ranking System so they have good chances of getting an Invitation To Apply (ITA) for PR via Express Entry.
