Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

Canada’s social, political and economic hub- Ontario is the most popular destination among immigrants. It is also the most densely populated with 40% of Canada’s population living in Ontario. To support the economic development of the province, Ontario nominates suitable candidates through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

OINP invites immigrants to migrate to Canada through the following categories:

  • Human Capital Category
  • Employer Job Offer Category
  • Business Category

Are you planning to migrate to Canada? Have you calculated your CRS score? Contact Niyama Immigration to know your CRS score today.

OINP could be a good option if your CRS score is not very high. Getting a provincial nomination increases your CRS score by 600 points which guarantees you an ITA for Canada PR.

  • Human Capital Category

The Human Capital Category prioritizes candidates who can support the labour market needs of Ontario through their skill and experience. There are five sub-categories under this program:

Ontario Express Entry Stream

This is an enhanced stream that is aligned with the Express Entry Program. You must have an active Express Entry profile to become eligible under this stream. The Ontario Express Entry Stream is further sub-divided into three categories:

  1. Ontario Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities Stream: Ontario invites Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through this stream. Earlier, Ontario invited candidates who had a CRS score of 400 or above. However, the new Tech Draws have begun inviting candidates with CRS as low as 350.

Do you know your CRS score? Use a CRS calculator to find out or schedule an appointment with Niyama Immigration today.

  1. Ontario Express Entry: French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream: This stream targets French-speaking Express Entry candidates who also have strong English language skills.
  1. Ontario Express Entry: Skilled Trades System: This stream targets tradespersons who are already working in Ontario or who have recent work experience in Ontario.

You do not need to have a job offer to apply under any of the Ontario Express Entry Streams.

Support for Businesses

The OINP supports employers by providing talent solutions through the immigration and TFW (temporary foreign workers) pathways.

It helps businesses navigate the immigration system to:

  • Fill skill shortages
  • Retain foreign students
  • Get skilled proffessionals faster

The Govt. has dedicated staff to support employers one-on-one. New businesses also get ample support in the province to participate in employer events and conferences.

The OINP is a dedicated referral partner under the Global Skills Strategy (GSS) of Canada. The GSS is a federal program that helps eligible Canadian businesses get access to skilled workers globally. It also offers faster application processing times and enhanced customer service from both ESDC and IRCC.

The requirements of the GSS are as follows:

  • Category A: You own an innovative company in Canada and need unique and specialized skilled foreign workers to grow and expand.
  • Category B: You own a business in Canada and your company needs to hire foreign workers working in occupations found on the global talent occupations list.
